Swisscave Classic Vs. Swisscave Premium
Swisscave divides their wine coolers into the Classic and the Premium range. Both are high quality, reliable units but there are a few features available on the Premium range, which differ from the Classic.
The main thing to consider is the aesthetic differences between the two ranges. Premium models allow you to choose between white, blue and amber lighting which is featured down the sides of the cabinet, allowing each shelf to be highlighted. The Classic range however only features blue lighting from the ceiling.
Another feature to note between the ranges is the difference in shelving. Premium models can be fitted with up to 14 shelves in beech or dark sapele wood, in the larger models. Swisscave Premium models also have variations of shelving which will allow you house a variety of bordeaux/burgundy bottles (normally a 50/50 split on the overall capacity). However, the Classic ranges are fitted with a lower number of shelves, in beech wood only and catered for Bordeaux bottles as standard.
Swisscaves Premium models are also fitted with quieter, more efficient internal quality components. Both the Classic and Premium models are handle-less as standard, but have the option to add different coloured handles if required.

Premium Edition
With a wide operating temperature range of 5-20°C this unit is perfect for use as a service wine cooler or it can also be utilised as a long term storage unit for your collection since it has a charcoal filter. With 2 temperature zones you can use the upper zone (warmer) for storage and lower zone (cooler) for service temperatures or both zones for serving temperatures.
The Premium edition from Swisscave offers a precious black stainless steel frame rim with a lock - you have the option to remove the handle or add display shelves and your wines will look great whilst being stored correctly.
4 pull-out mahogany shelves with attractive grip bars that add a touch of class to the wine cooler and is something different in the wine cooler industry. The interior is also lit up by LED's which are also mounted on the side walls to ensure you can see every layer of bottles easily.

What bottles will the WLU-160DF hold?
Swisscave products are designed around Bordeaux bottle of a length of up to 30-31cm and diameter of 7.5-8cm - The 'classic' edition of their wine coolers features less shelves so two layers of bottles will fit neatly between each shelf - we recommend stacking bottles of the same shape on each shelf.
Ventilation and Install requirements:
The WLU-160DF is designed as a front venting unit which means it can be used as a freestanding or a built in unit with cabinets built around it. If building cabinets around the wine cooler, it is best to leave 1cm to the rear of the unit and also bear in mind that the overhang on the Swisscave units is approximately 1.5cm - so to have the wine cooler sitting flush, this will need to be accounted for pre-purchase/installation.
